Launch of the Confidence Queen

We are truly blessed to see our program, started from such humble beginnings. We are soon launching our
first journal for girls “a journey to self confidence”. Visit our website and sign up to be the first one to be
notified of it’s release.

May,2020

We were determined to make it happen so we got to work and bootstrapped our first pilot sessions in May 2020

When I look back on those early days I truly believe I was moved by passion and driven by vision. We
planned for 10 girls in our pilot session and saw the numbers grow as the girls were inviting their friends and
relatives to join the Confidence Queen movement.

Through the program, we have reached over 300 girls since 2020 where we equip participants with literacy and life skills (knowledge of reproductive health, leadership skills, financial literacy and entrepreneur skills) which deals with the issues affecting adolescent girls.

In May we launched the Confidence Queen program which was running once a week on Fridays on the issues
affecting adolescent girls. While COVID 19 has affected nearly all learners globally, school closures have
exacerbated already existing inequalities for marginalized learners and come with a host of unintended
consequences for vulnerable girls. The Confidence queen started working on the education and life skills
journals, E-books since November 2020 that will equip the girls to thrive in life and ensure they have access to
life saving education and life skills tools.

B In the beginning … May 2020 seems just like the other day when my husband and I pooled together

our minds, time and personal resources to plant a seed for The Confidence Queen which was designed to
equip girls with educational tools  and life skills  to thrive in school and life. Our new beginnings started after research
done in April 2020 to identify the issues affecting adolescent girls and resources they need in terms of growth
mind set to make them thrive. This was done when the girls were at home after the Kenyan Government
abruptly closed schools and colleges nationwide in March 2020 in response to COVID19, disrupting nearly 17
million learners country wide. The social and economic costs were not borne evenly, however, with
devastating consequences for marginalized learners. This the case for girls in rural, marginalized communities
like the Maasai, Samburu, Turkana, pokot,Marakwet, and Sabaot and in coastal regions; refugee children in
Kakuma and Dadaab refugee camps, slums and children with disabilities.

We are truly blessed to see our program, started from such humble beginnings. We are soon launching our
first journal for girls “a journey to self confidence”. Visit our website and sign up to be the first one to be
notified of it’s release.
